eastcontemporary is dedicated to the research, development, and support of emerging international artists through exhibitions, public programs and partnerships. Founded in Milan in 2020 as a non-profit project space, it quickly evolved into a contemporary art gallery (2021) with a specific focus on providing a global perspective on the Central and Eastern European art scene, and most recently, also on other regions historically and culturally influenced by the former Soviet Union, including Southeastern Europe and Central Asia. Committed to fostering creativity, the gallery provides artists with opportunities to research and develop career-defining projects. Our mission is to contribute to the international recognition and greater visibility of artists from these regions. It is not, however, an attempt to reorient the gaze towards this subject only, but rather to create a tangible bridge between often distant artistic communities.
