Gaep

Bucharest

A01 - Level 0

Founded in 2014 by Andrei Breahnă (gallerist and cultural manager) and Raluca Șoaita (architect), the gallery was initially named Eastwards Prospectus and focused on artistic practices from Eastern Europe. In 2019, it became Gaep – a name consistent with the new international nature of the programme. The current programme includes artistic practices that reflect various sociopolitical contexts and different generational positions, in an attempt to transcend established borders and circulate artworks and ideas in new ways. The gallery now represents eleven artists – Răzvan Anton, Pavel Brăila, Vlatka Horvat, Ištvan Išt Huzjan, Sebastian Moldovan, Damir Očko, Mihai Plătică, Raluca Popa, Marilena Preda Sânc, Mircea Stănescu, Ignacio Uriarte – and collaborates with other three – Radu Cioca, Felipe Cohen, Tania Mouraud. In the span of over seven years, Gaep presented 35 exhibitions in Bucharest, four online exhibitions and staged a large-scale urban intervention that brought Tania Mouraud’s work in nine cities across Romania.
