Founded in Seville in 2002, Alarcón Criado is located in the Triana district, in a former industrial space that was once dedicated to pottery. The building features an open courtyard with an original 18th-century kiln and was restored by the architectural firm AF6, winner of the competition for its renovation. The gallery specializes in contemporary art from Spain, Europe, and Latin America, with a clear focus on conceptual proposals committed to critical research, formal experimentation, and dialogue among diverse artistic practices. Its program addresses social, political, and cultural issues, establishing links between local and global contexts. Its main objective is the promotion of emerging and mid-career artists, as well as established figures within contemporary art. The gallery presents itself as an active platform that fosters collaboration with various agents within the artistic and cultural ecosystem. In doing so, it generates strategies that strengthen the connection between art, thought, and society. In Seville, it maintains an alliance with the Independent Platform for Modern and Contemporary Flamenco Studies (PIE. Flamenca). Since its inception, Alarcón Criado has maintained a balance between the commercial dimension of art and its function as a cultural agent, combining the promotion of its artists with an active commitment to the production, reflection, and dissemination of the most relevant contemporary artistic practices. In line with this vision, the gallery regularly participates in international art fairs across Europe, the United States, and Latin America. The global projection of its artists has been reinforced by their presence in key international events such as the Venice, Sydney, Lyon, and Cartagena de Indias biennials, as well as in platforms such as Manifesta and Documenta. The works it represents are part of important public and private collections and have been exhibited in leading museums and institutions at both national and international levels. Alarcón Criado is a founding member and president of the Association of Art Galleries of Seville (AGAS), a board member of the Consortium of Contemporary Art Galleries of Spain (CG), and a representative on the Contemporary Art Sectorial Board of Andalusia. It is also a member of the Institute of Contemporary Art (IAC).
